Hi, I’m Holly, an OCD specialist and trauma specialist psychotherapist based in the UK and owner and director of Holly Marie Psychotherapy.
If you’re feeling stuck in your head- battling intrusive thoughts, self doubt or endless what ifs, you are not alone. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, panic or frightening thoughts they can’t switch off from. Others describe losing confidence after difficult life events and struggling to feel like themselves again.
With 13 years experience as a psychotherapist I help people make sense of these experiences and find freedom from the patterns that keep them feeling trapped. My approach blends evidence-based methods like ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy) and trauma-informed therapy with a compassionate, practical focus on building confidence and resilience.
Therapy with me is about understanding why your mind reacts the way it does and learning tools to calm anxiety, quiet intrusive thoughts and rebuild trust in yourself. Together, we will create a safe supportive space for you to reconnect with who you are beneath the worry and self criticism. Your life no longer needs to be characterised by shame, guilt or anger.
If you are ready to start feeling more in control again, drop me an email to book a free consultation- I’d love to hear from you.
Together, we’ll create a personalized approach that fits your unique needs, helping you build confidence, resilience, and lasting change. You don’t have to do this alone—I’d love to support you on your journey. Reach out today for a free consultation, and let’s take the first step together.

Testimonials
Working with you the past year has been incredible and this time a year ago I would never have believed that in a years’ time I would have come as far as I have. That is so much in thanks to you and a testament to how incredible you are as a therapist. Whilst the PTSD work was some of the most draining and challenging hours, it was incredibly effective and I’m so relieved to know that I’ve finally been able to work through that horrendous time of our lives. Similarly, with the anxiety work, your calm and (frustratingly correct 😉) approach to how I can tackle my challenges has made such a difference to mine, and my family’s lives, and it has only brought us closer together. I feel more prepared now to take forward the next challenges we are facing with my daughter’s medical future and know that it’s ok to feel nervous, and sometimes sad, but that when it gets very hard, I’ve now got the tools to deal with it so things don’t get out of control again. There were times when I wasn’t sure if my husband and I would make it, I know now that a lot of the pressures were ones that were needlessly inflicted by me and I honestly believe that this therapy has, in part, saved our marriage as we couldn’t have gone on as we were. We communicate now better than we ever have.

Holly has a terrific way of drawing out important issues with calm and positivity which is just exceptional. I am so much more aware of my behaviours and triggers for those behaviours. I genuinely feel as if I am managing my stress/anger a little better when things are hard. I appreciate why I am like this and don’t beat myself up about it. I am now keen to talk to others about my traumatic event which I have never felt comfortable doing before.

Holly is incredible. She not only listened to me but also showed a deep care for both my personal well-being and my progress. There was never any judgment in her approach—just kindness, compassion, and a genuine understanding. Holly had a remarkable ability to connect the experiences I shared with our discussions, helping me make sense of my thoughts and actions. By identifying the triggers and underlying reasons, she equipped me with strategies to apply when I encountered similar situations again. When we tackled more challenging concepts, Holly gently encouraged me to challenge my negative beliefs and behaviours. She never pressured me to have all the answers or solutions right away. Instead, she offered her own ideas but always made it clear that if something didn’t resonate or feel manageable, that was perfectly okay. Holly is not only highly professional but also incredibly personal and empathetic. Her genuine care for her patients’ lives, progress, and well-being shines through in everything she does.

I was initially nervous about starting therapy, but Holly was so warm, kind, and always ready to listen. She made me feel completely comfortable and helped me enormously with my OCD. While there’s no magic solution to make it disappear, I now have the tools and techniques to help myself. The best thing about Holly is that some sessions focused on practical strategies, while others were simply a space where she would listen and understand me. It has been an absolute pleasure working with her, and I can’t thank her enough.

Working with Holly helped me to work through the hardest time in my life. She was patient, caring, encouraging and insightful throughout the entirety of our sessions and has helped me to find a stability and way to co-exist more peacefully with my OCD. When I didn’t have faith in myself, I held onto Holly’s words and kindness. I know that this isn’t linear, but I really do feel a level of peace and ‘okay’ that I didn’t think I could feel again when I first started working with her. I would highly recommend her services to anyone struggling with OCD and looking to find a way forward with the utmost grace and care.

Living with OCD and anxiety is draining, and it can be daunting to open up about intrusive and distressing thoughts (mine included fears around sharp objects, fumes and inadvertently hurting loved ones or myself). When I reached a level of anxiety and compulsive behaviour that limited my enjoyment of life, I was incredibly lucky to come across Holly’s profile and booked an intro session with her. Holly quickly made me feel understood, reassured and emboldened to break through my intrusive thoughts and behaviours. The tailored tools she shared, along with encouragement, lightness and humour, have proven transformative. I’m waking up and looking forward to the day, and to my life ahead – and am noticeably more flexible in how I see the world around me. Thank you for everything, Holly. I couldn’t recommend your services more.

When I started therapy, I was very sceptical of ever finding ‘me’. I felt at the time that the demons were swallowing me! Holly’s approach though, using techniques, such as the wardrobe technique, putting things away in the memory so that they can be viewed without being threatening, was a starting point of my recovery. Holly’s approach to my personal recovery was so beneficial and I will carry it forward in the future. Holly was always very respectful, courteous and helpful during our sessions and also with any email correspondence relating to it. At the start of my therapy, I always felt daunted before a session would start. But Holly always made me feel at ease very quickly and as the sessions went on, I began to look forward to them more and more. She always stayed professional and was very caring in my recovery and felt more like a friend at the end of the process.

Holly’s approach to working with me was great right from minute one it felt like a partnership in which we were both steering the obstacles together. At the start I felt incredibly vulnerable and her kindness and calm nature really put me at ease. I feel like she genuinely cares about her clients and has a strong passion for the services she delivers. The imprint her therapy has left on my will be appreciated forever. I cannot thank her enough and would recommend her to anyone needing support.

Holly was open and welcoming, making me feel comfortable from the beginning of our time working together. I can’t say I found anything difficult. Holly made the experience an easy one. Therapy helped me to achieve what I intended it to and the most useful feature was being able to discuss aspects of my life I tended to keep to myself.

Holly has been brilliant, she has really supported me and helped me try and understand how and why my brain had been avoiding processing the event. I have had a noticeable difference in myself over the last few months and she has really helped me feel a little more like my old self.
